How have you enjoyed the awards journey?
The awards journey has been a fantastic experience. Karen Phillips and her team are amazing event organisers making the application process through to the dinner seamless and stress free. I’ve met amazing women and thoroughly enjoyed the social functions.
The events association with the Award are amazing and inspirational. They are well organised and supported by the community. Please thank the sponsors on my behalf as the prizes are absolutely amazing.
Would you recommend others to nominate?
I would happily recommend others to nominate for the awards, it has been lovely to meet so many inspiring, enthusiastic, motivated women. Everyone demonstrates passion, commitment and dedication to their chosen path. We learn and mentor from each other and have developed lasting friendships.
Why do you think you were chosen as the winner?
I believe I was chosen as a winner as I have a passion for life and for helping others. The programs I support such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, parkrun and PCYC activities all focus on health, developing skills, volunteering in the community and setting challenges. As the Branch Manager of the PCYC Gold Coast we offer 42 sport and recreational activities, various Crime Prevention programs addressing the needs of the community, 30 Blue Light Discos a year and 4 Outside School Hours Care facilities. I work long hours and in my spare time I’m the Coordinator of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Event Director for parkrun.
