ASSIST A SISTA

Founded in 2012 by Nicolle and Manuela, Assist A Sista (AAS) is a registered, community based volunteer organisation that helps survivors of domestic violence.  Their goal is to break the cycle of domestic violence, “One family at a time.” Nicolle and Manuela are working mothers with a passion to make a difference in the lives of others. They saw a shortfall in the system and created AAS to provide comfortable homes to the desperate families so in need of a safe haven. AAS began with Nicolle and Manuela distributing ‘comfort packs’ and other emergency supplies to relieve some of the immeasurable stress and duress felt by families when they enter a refuge through the work of DV Connect. This soon led to the creation of the ASSISTA HAVENS. This is where Nicolle and Manuela essentially create a ‘haven’ for families once they exit a refuge and commence their journey towards a safe, new life in a new home.
